- Been there with the water flosser—sometimes it feels like I’m pressure washing my gums instead of cleaning them.
- If your gums are getting sore, you might be cranking it up too high. Lower setting helped me a ton.
- Consistency’s tough... I still forget some nights, but honestly, as long as you’re mostly on track, you’re doing better than most.
- Don’t beat yourself up about it—nobody’s perfect with this stuff.

I always worry I’m not doing enough with my water flosser. Does anyone else get nervous about missing spots under the bridge? I’ve tried lowering the pressure, but then I’m scared it’s not actually cleaning. How do you know for sure it’s working?

That’s such a common worry, honestly. I used to overthink it too, especially after getting my upper arch done. The pressure thing can be tricky—too high and it hurts, too low and you’re left wondering if it’s even working. What helped me was using those little disclosing tablets every so often. You chew one, swish it around, and it stains any leftover plaque so you can actually see if you’re missing spots. It’s not something I do every day, but it’s a good reality check.

Also, have you tried angling the tip differently? Sometimes just tilting it a bit more toward the gumline or even pausing a second longer under the bridge makes a difference. My hygienist said as long as you’re not seeing bleeding or getting that fuzzy feeling between cleanings, you’re probably doing alright. It’s not a perfect science, but you get a feel for it after a while.
