"Dentist said it was normal nerve healing stuff, and sure enough, it faded after about a month."

Glad yours cleared up in about a month, but honestly, nerve healing can be all over the place. After my extraction and implant, I had some weird sensations too—mostly random tingling and even a bit of numbness near the gumline. My dentist mentioned nerves can sometimes take longer to fully heal, especially if the extraction was tricky or close to a nerve. For me, it was closer to two months before things felt totally normal again. Didn't get the metallic taste either, thankfully...but I did have this odd sensitivity to cold drinks for ages. So yeah, everyone's recovery seems pretty different. I'd say if anything feels really off or lasts longer than expected, it's always worth checking back with your dentist. Better safe than sorry, right?

I wish mine had cleared up in a month—I was still dealing with weird nerve stuff for nearly three months after my extraction. I remember getting these random sharp twinges out of nowhere, especially when I was eating something crunchy or chewy. My dentist kept reassuring me it was normal and would eventually settle down, but honestly, I was starting to get pretty anxious about it. The worst part for me wasn't even the tingling or numbness; it was this occasional dull ache that would randomly pop up at night, just enough to keep me awake worrying about whether something had gone wrong.

Eventually, though, things did calm down. It took longer than I expected (and definitely longer than the dentist initially said), but now everything feels totally normal again. I think nerves just have their own timeline and don't always follow the textbook recovery periods dentists give you. Like you said, everyone's different...but if anything feels off or doesn't improve after a while, it's probably best to get it checked out again rather than stressing yourself out wondering what's going on.

Yeah, I totally get that nerves heal at their own pace, but three months seems like a long time to still have symptoms. My dentist also keeps saying it's normal, but I'm starting to wonder if getting a second opinion might ease my mind a bit. Did you ever consider seeing someone else, or did you just ride it out? Glad yours finally settled down though—gives me some hope!

Honestly, three months does sound a bit long to me too. I had implants done last year, and while my dentist kept reassuring me that some lingering numbness was normal, I couldn't shake the feeling something was off. After about two months of waiting it out, I decided to get another opinion just for peace of mind. Turns out everything actually was fine—just slow nerve healing—but hearing it from someone else really helped ease my anxiety.

Not saying your dentist is wrong or anything... but sometimes hearing the same thing from another professional can make all the difference mentally. Plus, if there is something minor going on, catching it early never hurts. Either way, glad you're staying positive! Nerves definitely have their own timeline, but hang in there—it does get better eventually.

Three months does feel a little long, but honestly, everyone's healing is so different. When I had mine done, my dentist told me nerves can be pretty unpredictable. It took me a good couple of months before things felt totally normal again. Still, if you're uneasy, getting another opinion won't hurt—peace of mind is worth a lot. Did your dentist mention anything specific you could do to help speed up nerve recovery? Mine suggested vitamin B supplements... seemed to help a bit.
