Haha, I feel you on the straw thing—I accidentally did that once too and panicked big-time, thinking I'd messed everything up. Luckily my mouth forgave me! Funny enough, I actually preferred lukewarm stuff like mashed potatoes or oatmeal after the first day. Did anyone else find their taste buds kinda off after the extraction? Mine felt weirdly dull for almost a week... thought I was losing it for a sec.

Yeah, totally normal! I remember after my extraction, everything tasted bland or just...off. My dentist explained it's partly due to swelling and inflammation affecting nerves around the extraction site. It took me about a week or so before things started tasting right again. Weirdly enough, spicy foods seemed extra intense during that time. Did spicy stuff taste stronger to you too, or was it just me being overly sensitive?

Mine went totally haywire too, but spicy stuff didn't get stronger—it just tasted weirdly metallic or something. I legit thought my taste buds were permanently broken...thankfully it passed after about a week. Guess everyone's mouth reacts a bit differently, huh?

That's interesting about the metallic taste thing—I didn't get that exactly, but I had something kinda similar. For me, everything sweet tasted super bitter for a few days after my extraction. Like, I tried eating ice cream thinking it'd be soothing (and cheap, lol), and it was just...ugh. Bitter vanilla is not something I'd recommend to anyone.

I remember freaking out a bit because I thought maybe the dentist had damaged some nerve or something. I even googled it (bad idea, btw), and of course ended up convincing myself I'd never enjoy dessert again. Thankfully, it cleared up after about four or five days. Weird how our mouths react so differently to basically the same procedure.

Did anyone else notice temperature sensitivity changing too? Hot stuff felt way hotter than usual for me, even lukewarm tea felt scalding for a while. Wonder if that's common or just another weird quirk of mine...
