I actually had the opposite experience with bruising—barely any at all, even though I was totally bracing myself for it. I did ice a lot, but honestly, I think it might’ve been more about luck than anything else. My oral surgeon said sometimes bruising just doesn’t show up much, especially if you tend to heal quickly from other stuff. Maybe it’s not all genetics? Either way, I was super anxious about looking weird, but it turned out okay. If anyone’s stressing about the yellow color, it might not even happen—or at least not as bad as you imagine.

I get what you mean about expecting to look like a walking bruise and then... nothing. My recovery was kind of the opposite though—ice packs, elevation, all the “right” stuff, but I still got that weird yellow-green shading on my jawline for a week. It wasn’t painful, just looked like I lost a fight with a highlighter. Honestly, I think there’s way more randomness to it than surgeons admit. Genetics, sure, but also hydration? How much you move around? Maybe even stress levels.

But yeah, the anxiety about looking weird is so real. I remember staring in the mirror every morning convinced it’d be worse than it was. Turns out most people barely notice unless you point it out (which of course I did, because why not overshare). If anyone’s reading this and freaking out about bruising or swelling—sometimes your body just surprises you. And if you do bruise, concealer works wonders...

Had a similar experience after getting my implant—followed all the instructions, but still ended up with some yellowish bruising around my cheek. Honestly, I stressed way more than I needed to. Most folks didn’t even notice unless I mentioned it.
