my experience healing after getting dental implants

Just wanted to share a quick tip that really helped me after I got my dental implants done. The dentist said it'd take some time to heal, and honestly, the first few days were kinda rough—swelling, soreness, you know the drill. But one thing that made a huge difference was sleeping with my head slightly elevated. I stacked an extra pillow under my head, and it seriously cut down on swelling and discomfort overnight. Anyone else got any little tricks or hacks that helped them heal quicker or easier?

Sleeping elevated helped a bit for me too, but honestly, what worked even better was regular ice packs—20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Did your dentist suggest that at all? I found it weird how some dentists emphasize elevation and others swear by ice. Mine didn't mention pillows once, but was pretty insistent about icing.

Also, I'm curious if anyone else had trouble with the extra pillows causing neck stiffness or headaches. Maybe it's just me (I tend to sleep kinda awkwardly anyway), but after two nights of propping my head up, I had to ditch the extra pillow because my neck was killing me more than my gums. Ended up sticking with ice packs and ibuprofen, which got the swelling down without messing up my neck. Did anyone else find elevation uncomfortable?

I had the same issue with extra pillows—my neck was sore for days. My kiddo had implants done recently, and we ended up using one of those travel neck pillows instead. Seemed to help a bit... anyone else try something similar?

Funny you mention that, because I did exactly the same thing after my implants! Regular pillows were killing my neck, but the travel pillow actually kept me from tossing around too much. Still wasn’t perfect, though—I woke up a few times feeling like I'd fallen asleep on an airplane, haha. But hey, better than waking up sore every morning...

Interesting about the travel pillow, hadn't thought of that. Did anyone else find ice packs helpful, or is that mostly just good for the first day or two? Still figuring out what works best here...
