Okay, so I was cleaning out my pantry yesterday and found a couple bottles of juice and soda wayyy in the back. They look fine, but the dates are kinda sketchy, lol. I mean, I know obvious stuff like weird colors or floaty bits mean it's time to toss it, but sometimes it's not that clear, you know? Got me thinking—how do you guys usually figure out if bottled drinks are still good or if they're past their prime?
Quick poll: Do you rely more on expiration dates or your senses (smell/taste/look)?
- Expiration dates all the way
- Trust my senses first
- Bit of both depending on the drink
Honestly, expiration dates can be overly cautious sometimes. I've had juice slightly past date that tasted perfectly fine... but with soda, flatness is usually the giveaway. I'd say trust your senses mostly, within reason of course.
Yeah, true... but sometimes taste alone isn't enough. I had a soda once that tasted okay but gave me a weird stomachache later. Now I always check smell, fizz, and appearance too—better safe than sorry.
