We had the same issue—my kid would conk out halfway through the bottle almost every night. Honestly, we just shifted the routine a bit earlier and tried to brush teeth before the bottle. Not perfect, I know, but it helped. Also switched to water in the bedtime bottle eventually...less stress all around and dentist approved, lol. Hang in there, it gets easier!

Totally get why you'd try brushing before the bottle—makes sense if they're falling asleep mid-feed. But from an oral health perspective, brushing after the last feeding is pretty important. Milk sugars (even from breastmilk or formula) can linger on teeth overnight, potentially leading to cavities or enamel issues down the road.

We had a similar struggle at our place. My little one was basically asleep halfway through the bedtime routine too, and brushing after seemed impossible at first. But we stuck with brushing after the bottle anyway, even if it meant gently waking him up for a minute or two. It wasn't fun at first (trust me, I remember those rough nights clearly...), but after a week or two he adjusted surprisingly well.

Switching to water in the bedtime bottle is definitely a smart move though—dentist-approved indeed! But if you're still giving milk or formula at bedtime, I'd really suggest trying to brush afterward if you can manage it. Even a quick brush is better than nothing. And if they're super sleepy, maybe try a damp cloth wipe-down of their teeth instead of a full-on brushing session? It's not perfect either, but it's better than leaving milk residue overnight.

I know routines and toddlers don't always mix smoothly...been there myself plenty of times. Just thought I'd throw out another perspective since dental habits early on can save you (and your kiddo) from headaches later. Hang in there—you're doing great already by being mindful about this stuff.

Yeah, totally agree with this. We did the water switch too, and honestly, it made life a lot easier. My kiddo wasn't thrilled at first (gave me the side-eye for days, lol), but eventually got used to it. Plus, brushing after water is way less drama. Might be worth giving it a shot if you haven't yet...saves sanity and teeth.

We did the water thing too, and honestly, best decision ever. It wasn't an instant hit—my toddler acted like I'd betrayed him for a week or so—but eventually, bedtime became way calmer. Bonus: dentist visits got easier too...less guilt about cavities!

Haha, toddlers can be so dramatic, right? Curious though—did you notice any difference in morning breath after switching to water only? I've heard mixed things about that...
