I totally get the guilt thing...felt the same way when I went for a second opinion on my wisdom teeth removal. My first dentist barely looked at my x-rays and just said "yep, gotta come out." It made me super anxious, like he wasn't even paying attention, you know? Ended up seeing someone else who actually took time to explain why and how it'd happen. Felt way better about it after that—sometimes it's worth the awkwardness to feel comfortable with who's handling your health.

Totally makes sense to me—feeling comfortable with whoever's working on your teeth is huge. I've had similar experiences with cosmetic procedures, where one dentist barely explained anything and another walked me through every step. Curious, though...how do you guys usually gauge if a dentist or surgeon is trustworthy enough for something major like bone grafts? Do you go mostly by reviews, personal vibe, or maybe their willingness to answer questions? I find it tricky sometimes figuring out who's genuinely good versus just good at selling themselves.

I totally get what you're saying about dentists who are good at selling themselves versus actually being good. I had a consult once where the guy had amazing reviews online, but when I asked questions, he seemed rushed and kinda annoyed. Then I saw another dentist who didn't have as many flashy reviews, but she took her time, explained everything clearly, and even showed me before-and-after pics of similar cases she'd done. Honestly, for me, it's mostly about how patient they are with my million questions...reviews help, but vibes matter more.

Totally relate to this. Had a similar experience with my orthodontist—first guy had a fancy office and tons of glowing reviews, but felt like he was timing me with a stopwatch, lol. Ended up choosing someone quieter who actually listened and explained stuff clearly. Vibes definitely matter.

Couldn’t agree more. Had my bone graft done by a surgeon who had fewer online reviews but took the time to walk me through everything—no rush, no sales pitch. Fancy offices don’t always mean better care...
