Regular pillows were okay for me too, but did you find yourself waking up more often to adjust them? I kept worrying I'd accidentally roll onto my surgery side. Ended up using one of those body pillows—felt a bit silly at first, but it actually helped keep me in place. Agree about wedge pillows though, way too firm for me... felt like sleeping on a ramp. Did anyone else feel anxious about accidentally bumping the graft area during sleep?

Definitely—I was constantly worried about that too. I ended up building a little pillow fortress around myself, which felt ridiculous but did ease my anxiety somewhat... wedge pillows were definitely not for me either, way too uncomfortable.

I totally get where you're coming from with the pillow fortress—I did something similar. I was so paranoid about accidentally bumping or pressing on the graft area that I literally practiced sleeping positions before the surgery. Sounds silly, but it helped me mentally prepare. I also bought one of those travel neck pillows to keep my head stable, but honestly, it didn't do much except make me feel like I was on a long-haul flight every night. Eventually, I just accepted that I'd wake up a few times to check everything was okay. It was exhausting, but after a week or two, I got used to it and relaxed a bit more. Hang in there, it'll get easier as you heal... and trust me, you're definitely not alone in feeling anxious about this stuff.

Haha, I remember doing something similar—built myself a little pillow barrier too. Didn't practice positions beforehand, though...wish I'd thought of that. First few nights were rough, but like you said, it does get easier after a bit. Hang in there!

I totally get the pillow barrier thing...I did something similar after my bone graft surgery, but I went a step further and actually practiced sleeping positions beforehand. Sounds silly, but it helped me figure out exactly how many pillows I'd need and where to put them. Still, even with prep, those first nights were pretty uncomfortable. You're right though, it really does ease up after a few days. Hang in there, you're doing great.
