I totally get the panic about losing a tray—those things are like tiny, clear bars of gold. I used to do the “pocket shuffle” every time I left a hotel room, patting down my bag to make sure my retainer case was there. One thing that helped me was making it part of my “brush teeth, wash face, retainer in” routine before bed. It’s wild how your brain eventually just does it on autopilot. Also agree, nothing beats that first floss after braces come off… felt like freedom for my gums. But yeah, missing a night here and there didn’t wreck anything for me either—just made me extra paranoid about not letting it become a habit.

Losing a tray is such a specific kind of panic, right? I’ve definitely done the frantic bag search more than once—those cases are way too easy to misplace. I found that keeping my retainer case in the same pocket every time helped, but I still double-check sometimes. Did you ever have that weird fear you’d accidentally throw it out with a napkin or something? And yeah, the first time flossing after braces felt so strange but so good. Missing a night here and there didn’t mess me up either, but I get nervous if it happens two nights in a row. Do you feel like your teeth shift even a little if you skip? Maybe it’s just in my head...
