Spacing out appointments is pretty standard as treatment progresses. Early on, teeth are moving more rapidly and need frequent monitoring. Once the big shifts are done, the roots have to stabilize in their new spots, and that just takes time—there’s no way to rush it without risking root damage or resorption, like you mentioned. The six-week (or even longer) intervals let the bone and ligaments settle down between adjustments.
I get what you mean about feeling less “involved” when you’re not going in as much. I’ve had patients who felt exactly the same—it’s almost like you lose that regular check-in and reassurance. But as long as you’re not seeing anything weird (like a bracket popping off or sudden pain), you’re probably right on track. Actually, less soreness after adjustments is a good sign your teeth are adapting better to the changes.
Out of curiosity, did your ortho talk about retention yet? Sometimes people worry more about relapse during these longer intervals, but retention planning usually starts before the braces even come off. Wondering if you’ve gotten any info on that yet...
