Just got back from my ortho appointment yesterday, and weirdly enough, the tightening on my top braces was way more intense than the bottom ones. Like, last time it was the opposite, but this round my upper teeth feel super tender and sensitive, while my lower teeth are kinda chillin' lol. On the bright side, I finally see a noticeable difference in my upper alignment, so yay progress! Curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or noticed quicker results on one set of teeth versus the other?
It's pretty common for one arch to respond differently than the other, but I'm not sure quicker soreness always means quicker progress. Teeth move at different rates depending on bone density, root length, and even the specific adjustments your ortho made this time around. Maybe your top teeth just needed a bit more torque or rotation, hence the extra discomfort? Either way, soreness doesn't always correlate directly with visible movement—sometimes subtle shifts are happening even when things feel chill.
Mine were exactly the same—top teeth always seemed way more sensitive after adjustments. I remember asking my ortho about it, and she mentioned something similar about torque adjustments being tougher on certain teeth. Weirdly enough, sometimes the most painful adjustments didn't even show noticeable changes right away...but then a few weeks later, I'd suddenly notice a difference. Maybe your teeth are just quietly doing their thing behind the scenes? Hang in there, it usually eases up after a few days.
Ugh, torque adjustments were the absolute worst for me too. Weirdly, my bottom teeth always felt fine, but the top ones acted like drama queens every single time. Anyone else ever wake up convinced their teeth shifted overnight, only to realize they look exactly the same in the mirror? Happened to me constantly. Hang tight though, after a few days you'll probably forget all about it...until next adjustment day rolls around, lol.
