I started using those little interdental brushes after my dentist found a cavity hiding between two molars—honestly, I thought flossing was enough, but apparently not. Got a filling, but now I'm paranoid about it happening again. The brushes are kinda awkward at first, but I think they're helping? Anyone else feel like they're constantly fighting off these sneaky cavities, or is it just me being dramatic?

Not just you—those in-between cavities are like ninjas, I swear. But I gotta say, I'm not totally convinced those tiny brushes are the holy grail everyone makes them out to be. I tried using them after my last cleaning because my hygienist was pretty insistent. Honestly? Felt like I was poking around in a game of dental Operation and half the time, I wondered if I was doing more harm than good.

I still think regular floss is underrated, especially if you actually use it every day (guilty of skipping sometimes). And maybe it's just me, but brushing technique matters way more than people admit. Like, if you're just half-heartedly swiping at your teeth while scrolling TikTok, no brush or floss is gonna save you.

Not saying ditch the interdental brushes entirely—they do get gunk out that floss misses—but I wouldn't lose sleep over missing a day here or there. Cavities are sneaky, yeah, but sometimes genetics and bad luck play a bigger part than we want to admit...

Totally get what you mean about feeling like you’re doing more harm than good—those tiny brushes stress me out too. I always worry I’m going to jab my gums or something. Honestly, I’m still trying to get the hang of flossing without feeling like I’m in a wrestling match with my teeth. It’s weirdly reassuring to hear that missing a day isn’t the end of the world. Genetics definitely play a part... my mom has perfect teeth and barely does anything. I guess we just do our best and try not to overthink it.

Been there! Those tiny brushes used to freak me out too, especially when I first started using them—felt like I was poking around blindly. What helped me was switching to a waxed floss and kind of “hugging” each tooth instead of forcing it straight down. It took a bit to get the motion right, but my gums stopped getting so sore after a few weeks. Have you ever tried those soft picks? They’re not as scary as the wire ones, in my experience. Curious what everyone else finds easier for those tight spots...

My kid’s dentist actually showed us how to use those soft picks, and it made a big difference—less scary for my daughter than the brushes with wires. She still complains sometimes, but it’s way easier than trying to wrangle floss around her back teeth. Anyone else’s kids hate the taste of mint floss?
