Totally hear you on the “unfair” part. I’ve always felt like I drew the short straw in the dental lottery—my brother can eat a bag of gummy worms and never get a cavity, but I swear, if I even look at a caramel, it’s game over. My dentist keeps telling me about “risk factors” and all that, but sometimes it just feels random.

I tried those tiny brushes too, mostly because regular floss shreds between my teeth and I got tired of buying new packs all the time. The brushes are surprisingly affordable if you buy them in bulk online, and they last longer than I expected. Water flossers sound cool, but honestly, I couldn’t justify the price (student budget here), so I stick with the manual stuff for now.

Dried fruit is such a sneaky one. I love raisins, but after my last checkup, I started rinsing with water right after snacking. Not sure if it’s helping yet, but hey, can’t hurt. Anyway, you’re definitely not alone—some of us just have to work a little harder for that clean bill of dental health.

Haha, I swear my teeth just *know* when I’ve even thought about sugar. Totally relate to the “dental lottery”—my sister’s never had a filling and I’m basically on a first-name basis with my hygienist. I tried those little brushes too, and they’re a game-changer, honestly. Rinsing after raisins is smart; I started doing that with dried mango and it seems to help (or at least makes me feel less guilty). Dental unfairness is real, but hey, at least we’ve got clean teeth and stories to swap.

Preach. I swear, my mouth has a sixth sense for anything remotely sweet—like, I’ll just *look* at a cookie and suddenly it’s “Congrats, you’ve won another cavity!” Meanwhile, my partner lives on gummy worms and his dentist acts like he’s some kind of oral hygiene prodigy. It’s honestly criminal.

Those little brushes are a lifesaver, though. Not gonna lie, I was super skeptical at first (mostly because everything “extra” at the pharmacy seems like a money grab), but they actually clear out stuff floss misses. And they last longer than I expected, so I don’t feel like I’m tossing cash down the drain every week.

Rinsing after dried fruit? Game changer. It’s wild how something that looks so innocent—like a handful of raisins—can glue itself to your molars for hours. I started swishing with water after snacks too, mostly because I can’t afford another filling. My insurance only covers the basics and even then, it’s like pulling teeth (pun intended) to get anything reimbursed.

Not sure if anyone else has tried switching up toothpaste brands for sensitivity? I went cheap for a while (big mistake) and my teeth felt like they were being tasered every time I had ice cream. Switched back to the pricier stuff and yeah, my wallet’s weeping but my teeth are happier.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder if genetics are just out to get us. Like, you can brush and floss religiously and still end up with the world’s most expensive smile. But hey, at least we’re not alone in this dental lottery—guess it gives us something to laugh about while we’re avoiding caramel popcorn at the movies...

I hear you on the genetics thing—my sister barely brushes and never gets cavities, but I floss after every meal and still get those sneaky in-between ones. Anyone else get told to use fluoride rinse? My dentist swears by it but I’m not convinced it makes a huge difference. I’ve tried swapping toothpaste too, but honestly, Sensodyne is the only one that doesn’t make my teeth ache. How do people even keep up with all these “extras” without going broke?

Genetics are wild, right? My brother eats candy like it’s a food group and somehow his dentist always says, “No cavities!” Meanwhile, I’m over here with my Sonicare and floss picks still getting those tiny interproximal ones. I’ve tried the fluoride rinse too—honestly, it just feels like an expensive mouthwash to me, but maybe it helps? Sensodyne’s the only paste that doesn’t make my teeth tingle, so I stick with it even though the price hurts almost as much as cold water. Dental care is starting to feel like a subscription service I never signed up for...
