Totally agree about the water trick—it's underrated. Ever tried chewing sugar-free gum after meals too? My dentist mentioned it boosts saliva production, which naturally fights cavities. Been doing it for years now, and honestly...it seems to help.
Interesting point about sugar-free gum—I often recommend it myself. Have you noticed any difference depending on the gum's flavor or ingredients? I've heard xylitol-based gums might offer extra cavity-fighting benefits, but I'm curious if anyone's experienced noticeable differences firsthand...

Honestly, I've tried a bunch of different sugar-free gums, including the xylitol ones, and I can't say I've noticed a huge difference cavity-wise. Maybe my teeth are just stubborn rebels, lol. But I will say this—some of those xylitol gums can be pricier than regular sugar-free options, and as someone watching my budget, I tend to stick with whatever's on sale or in bulk packs.
Flavor-wise though, minty gums always feel fresher to me compared to fruity ones. Fruity flavors seem to lose their taste quicker and leave me chewing flavorless rubber after five minutes... not exactly enjoyable. Mint at least gives me that fresh breath illusion for longer.
I guess what I'm saying is, while xylitol might have some extra perks scientifically, practically speaking, regular sugar-free gum seems to do the trick just fine for me. Plus, flossing and brushing regularly probably matters way more anyway. Just my two cents (or should I say two chews?).
I was actually pretty skeptical about xylitol gums at first too, but my dentist recommended them after I got my first cavity (ugh, anxiety central!). Been chewing them regularly for about six months now, and while I can't say they're miracle workers, I've definitely noticed less plaque buildup between cleanings. Could be placebo, sure...but hey, if it helps even a little bit, I'll take it. Still gotta brush and floss religiously though—gum alone won't cut it!

Yeah, totally agree. Gum's nice as an extra step, but I haven't noticed enough difference to justify the higher price tag. Anyone found a budget-friendly xylitol gum that's actually decent?
