I hear you on the sticky dried fruit—raisins are the worst for me. Ever tried one of those water flossers? I got a cheap one off Amazon and it actually blasts out most of the gunk, way easier than toothpicks. Wonder if anyone’s found a snack that doesn’t mess with your teeth at all...

Raisins are like little dental glue traps, aren’t they? I swear, I could brush and floss twice and still find a sticky bit hiding out somewhere the next morning. Water flossers—now that’s a gadget I actually use. My daughter got me one for Christmas last year (probably a not-so-subtle hint). It’s loud as a jet engine but does the trick, though I’ve managed to spray the mirror more than my teeth some days. Anyone else accidentally wash their eyebrows with those things?

Now, about snacks that don’t mess with your teeth... Does celery count? I mean, it’s basically crunchy water. But let’s be honest, nobody craves celery when there’s a bag of dried apricots in the cupboard. I tried switching to nuts for a while, but then my dentist pointed out they can crack fillings if you bite down wrong—can’t win.

Here’s a weird one: I once tried those freeze-dried apple chips thinking they’d be better. Turns out, they’re just as good at wedging themselves between molars as the regular kind. Maybe it’s just me, but the “healthy” snacks seem to be even sneakier than candy sometimes.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that if it tastes good and is remotely healthy, it’s probably going to make me work for it later with the toothbrush. At this point, I just keep floss in every room and hope for the best. Anyone else feel like they spend half their day fishing food out of their teeth? Or is that just me getting older?

Honestly, I relate to this way more than I’d like to admit. Dried fruit is my nemesis—raisins, apricots, even those “healthy” date bars. I always think I’ve gotten everything out, but then the next day there’s a rogue bit wedged in there mocking me. Water flossers are a whole adventure too... I managed to soak my shirt the first time I tried mine. At least it keeps things interesting?

Celery does feel like the one safe bet, but you’re right—it’s not exactly a treat. Sometimes I just give up and keep dental picks in my bag, car, and couch cushions. It’s not just you or age; it’s like modern snacks are designed to test our patience (and dental insurance). Hang in there—if nothing else, at least we’ll have impressively strong flossing skills.

I used to think water flossers were a gimmick until I tried one—now it’s like a mini car wash for my mouth, but with the added risk of soaking myself. I do think it’s worth the hassle though. Yeah, dried mango is my nemesis. I’ll brush, floss, even swish with mouthwash, and hours later I’ll find a rogue piece wedged somewhere. Tried regular floss but it just shreds or gets stuck. Water flosser was a game changer for me too—though I’m convinced half the water ends up on my shirt. Dentist said sticky fruits can be as bad as candy for cavities, which honestly blew my mind. Makes me wonder if “healthy” snacks are worth the hassle sometimes...
