“Still, it’s wild how often what you feel doesn’t match what you see.”

That really hits home. I’ve had tech where the diagnostics looked way worse than what was actually going on—sometimes a sensor glitch or just weird lighting can throw things off. Makes me wonder how much trust to put in those x-rays alone. Did they use any digital imaging or just the standard films? I’d be pretty hesitant to sign up for six root canals without a second opinion, especially if only one tooth is bugging you. The tech’s great, but it’s not perfect.

I get what you’re saying, but in my case, the x-rays actually caught a nasty infection I didn’t even feel yet. Sometimes the pictures do show stuff before it gets painful. Still, six at once sounds extreme unless they’ve got solid evidence.

Yeah, I totally get the anxiety. When my dentist first mentioned root canals, I was convinced I’d feel something if there was a real problem, but apparently not. My x-rays picked up a couple of “silent” issues too—one tooth looked fine to me, but apparently it was already on its way out. Still, six at once feels overwhelming. Did they show you the x-rays and walk through each tooth? I’d want to see exactly what they’re seeing before making that call.

That’s a really good point about seeing the x-rays. I always ask my dentist to pull them up on the screen and walk me through what’s going on with each tooth—sometimes the damage is only visible on the film, especially if there’s decay under an old filling or deep inside the tooth. Six root canals does sound like a lot all at once, though. Did they mention if any of those teeth could be monitored for a bit longer, or are they all urgent? Sometimes dentists have different thresholds for when to treat, so a second opinion can be helpful in cases like this.
