My 7-year-old has a baby tooth that's been loose foreverrrr but just won't fall out. Dentist says we should extract it to make room for the adult tooth. I'm kinda hesitant, seems like nature should handle this, you know? Anyone dealt with something similar?
My daughter had something similar happen around that age—one stubborn tooth just hung in there forever. Our dentist also suggested pulling it, but I decided to wait a bit longer. We tried the classic apple-biting trick, and eventually, after a couple more weeks, it came out on its own. Not saying your dentist is wrong, but sometimes giving nature a little extra time does the trick... might be worth waiting a bit if you're hesitant.
I can definitely relate to your hesitation. My son had a similar stubborn tooth situation, and while I usually trust dentists completely, I felt uneasy about pulling it prematurely. From what I've read and heard from others, sometimes early extraction can affect spacing for adult teeth later on. Waiting a bit longer, as long as there's no pain or infection, often seems to work out fine. Of course, every case is different, but patience does sometimes pay off...
Have you thought about getting a quick second opinion from another dentist? My daughter had something similar, and the second dentist suggested waiting. Turned out fine and saved us some tooth fairy drama...
