I’ve actually wondered the same thing - like, we have smart watches that can track our sleep, but no “sealant tracker” app? My dentist just gives me the old “we’ll keep an eye on it” line every six months. It kinda feels like a guessing game. Has anyone ever had a dentist actually say, “Hey, your kid’s sealant is good for another year,” or is it always just a wait-and-see thing? I feel like sealants are the Teflon pans of dentistry… you only notice they’re worn out when stuff starts sticking.

That “wait-and-see” approach drives me a little nuts, honestly. I get anxious about dental bills and would rather know in advance if we’re going to need to redo sealants - especially since my insurance only covers them once per tooth. My daughter’s dentist just checks with that little mirror and says something like, “Looks intact for now.” Not exactly reassuring when you’re trying to budget ahead.

I’ve never had anyone give me a timeline either. It always feels like they’re guessing too, which makes me worry I’ll miss the point where the sealant fails and then… surprise cavity.
