Had one of those “oh no” parenting moments last weekend—my 6-year-old tripped face-first into the playground slide and, bam, out popped his front baby tooth. Total panic mode, but I remembered this little dental first aid kit I’d picked up on a whim (honestly thought it was kind of silly at the time). It had one of those tooth saver containers and some gauze, which actually made the whole thing way less chaotic. We got to the dentist fast and she said it probably helped keep things cleaner, even though it was a baby tooth.
I’m curious if anyone else has used one of those kits? Did it actually help or just sit in your glovebox forever? Also—does anyone know if there’s really anything you can do for a permanent tooth, or is it just luck at that point?
I’ve actually had one of those dental kits in my glovebox for years, and honestly, I’ve never used it—though your story is making me rethink that. When my daughter knocked out a permanent tooth (yikes), the dentist said the best shot was to put it back in the socket ASAP, or at least keep it in milk if you can’t. The kit would’ve been handy, but I feel like in the chaos, I just panicked and forgot about it. Permanent teeth are a whole different ballgame compared to baby teeth, though. The dentist did manage to save hers, but I think quick action was the real key, not so much the kit itself.
