Knocked-out tooth: milk or saliva—what’s actually better?

Has anyone actually managed to have milk handy in that kind of moment?

Honestly, never. I’ve only ever had water bottles on me, and I’ve read that water’s not ideal for a tooth. You did the right thing with saliva—way better than nothing. It’s easy to freeze up in those situations.

Yeah, I’ve never had milk around either, unless I’m literally at home. Saliva’s definitely better than water since water can actually damage the root cells, from what I’ve read. If you can’t pop it back in, saliva keeps it moist and that’s key. I always figured water was fine, but apparently it’s not ideal. Guess it’s one of those things you only learn after the fact...
