Totally relate to the feeling that you can do everything “right” and still end up with dental issues. My kid brushes like a champ, but we still deal with cavities. Genetics are no joke. Extra checks really do help my peace of mind, even if it feels a bit much at times.

I totally get where you’re coming from. We do everything by the book at home, but my youngest still gets cavities too. Sometimes I wonder—is it worth paying for extra fluoride or sealants if genetics are stacked against us? Or is just sticking with regular checkups enough? Either way, you’re not alone.

It’s honestly such a relief to hear other parents are in the same boat. My daughter brushes, flosses, the whole routine, and we’re still seeing those little spots on her teeth. I’ve been going back and forth on the sealants too... part of me feels like maybe it’s overkill, but then I get anxious thinking about her getting more cavities down the line. Genetics just seem to have a mind of their own sometimes. Regular checkups help me sleep at night, but I still find myself second-guessing everything.

I totally get where you’re coming from—my son had the exact same thing, and I kept beating myself up about it. We did end up going with sealants after a lot of back and forth, and honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner. It felt like overkill at first, but the peace of mind is worth it. Genetics are wild sometimes... you can do everything “right” and still have spots pop up. Regular checkups are huge, but don’t underestimate your gut feeling either.

I totally relate to the back-and-forth on sealants. We had a similar debate because, honestly, dental stuff adds up fast and I always wonder if it’s really necessary or just another “extra.” But after my daughter got a couple of small cavities even though we’re super careful, we finally went for the sealants too. It’s not cheap upfront, but I figured it might save us from bigger bills (and drama) later.

Do you ever feel like dentists push for more treatments than you actually need? I always ask about options and costs, but sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s truly important. For me, pain management is huge—my kid freaks out at the slightest twinge—but I also want her teeth to last. Is there a way to balance both without spending a fortune?

I wish insurance covered more preventive stuff... seems like long-term health would be cheaper for everyone. Anyone else get frustrated with what’s actually covered versus what’s recommended?
