Healing took some patience, but for me, the day-to-day difference is huge. It’s not exactly like having your old teeth back, but it’s pretty close.

That’s encouraging to hear. I’ve been weighing the cost of implants vs. sticking with my dentures, and honestly the price tag on implants makes me hesitate. I do miss stuff like biting into a sandwich without worrying about the whole thing shifting, though. Did insurance help at all with yours? I keep wondering if the extra expense is really worth it for everyday comfort, or if I’d just get used to the weirdness of dentures eventually.

Honestly, I get where you’re coming from. The cost is no joke, and insurance barely chipped in for mine—just covered a tiny part. I will say, I’ve seen folks get used to dentures after a while. It’s a hassle at first, but some people just learn to work around the shifting and the glue. For me, the implants felt more natural, but I can’t say it’s a night-and-day difference for everyone. If you’re not totally miserable with the dentures, might not be worth the hit to your wallet.

That’s interesting—when you say “more natural,” do you mean in terms of chewing or just how they feel sitting in your mouth? I’m super curious about the day-to-day stuff, like eating tougher foods or even just talking. Did you notice any difference with things like temperature sensitivity or cleaning routines? I keep reading mixed things about maintenance and I’m trying to weigh all the little details before making a call.

Funny you mention cleaning routines—I thought I’d be off the hook, but nope, implants still need a solid brushing and flossing routine. I will say, for me, dentures felt less “natural” when eating steak or biting into apples. Implants aren’t exactly like your own teeth, but there’s less of that slipping-around feeling. As for temperature, I didn’t notice much difference, though ice cream is still a test of willpower. Maintenance-wise, neither option is a total walk in the park.

I totally relate to the cleaning surprise—thought I’d ditch the floss, but nope. For me, the tech side of implants is pretty cool, but honestly, I did notice a bit more sensitivity to hot drinks at first. It faded after a couple months. Steak definitely felt way more secure with implants compared to dentures, though. Ever have issues with food getting stuck under the implant crown? That’s been my only real headache.
