My daughter went through something similar when she got her implants. At first, she kept complaining about a weird pressure sensation and said it felt like something was constantly stuck in her gums. I remember feeling pretty worried too, thinking maybe we'd rushed into things. But our dentist reassured us that it's totally normal—apparently the gums and bone need time to adjust to the implants, and nerves can be sensitive for a while.

We did the saltwater rinses religiously, and also tried using a super-soft toothbrush to gently massage around the implant area twice a day. It seemed to help ease her discomfort gradually. Honestly though, I think part of it was just her getting used to the new sensations...it took about three weeks before she stopped mentioning it altogether.

Did your son have any trouble eating certain foods at first? My daughter struggled with crunchy stuff like apples or carrots for a while, so we had to get creative with softer snacks until things settled down.

That's interesting...did your dentist mention anything about avoiding certain foods permanently? I'm considering implants myself and wondering if I'll have to say goodbye to crunchy tacos forever—my wallet won't complain, but my taste buds definitely will.

My dad got implants about five years ago, and he was worried about the same thing—he loves crunchy snacks, especially tortilla chips. At first, he stuck to softer foods like pasta or bananas, but after a few months, he gradually went back to his usual favorites. Now he's happily crunching away on tacos and chips again without any issues. Everyone heals differently, but from what I've seen, you probably won't have to say goodbye to crunchy tacos forever...just temporarily. Hang in there!

Had implants myself about 6 years ago, and I remember staring longingly at a bag of Doritos for weeks. Started slow with mashed potatoes, then soft sandwiches, and eventually worked my way back to crunchy heaven. Now I munch chips without a second thought... patience pays off.

Totally relate to the Doritos struggle... took me a good month before I dared crunch anything harder than toast. One thing that helped was chewing evenly on both sides—seemed to ease the adjustment. Now it's second nature, thankfully.
