Had a chat with my dentist yesterday about replacing a missing tooth, and she mentioned mini dental implants as a cheaper and quicker alternative to regular implants. She said they're great if you don't have enough bone density or wanna avoid invasive surgery. Sounds tempting, but I'm wondering if there's any catch or downside I should know about... um, anyone here had experience with these mini implants? Curious if they're actually as good as they sound.
I looked into mini implants a while back too, and from what I gathered, they're definitely quicker and less invasive, but there's a trade-off. Because they're smaller, they might not handle heavy chewing forces as well, especially in the back teeth. Also, some dentists mentioned they might not last as long as regular implants. I'd say they're probably fine for front teeth or if you're not a heavy chewer, but if durability's your main concern, regular implants might still be the safer bet...
Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard too. My aunt got mini implants for her front teeth about three years ago, and she's been really happy with them—no issues so far. But she did mention her dentist advised against them for molars because of the chewing pressure. Makes sense, I guess. Has anyone here actually had mini implants in the back teeth long-term? Curious how they've held up over time...
