I tried carrying one of those mini dental kits in my bag for a while, but honestly, I just kept forgetting it was even there. Ended up using the tiny mirror to check my hair more than my teeth. Now I just stick to swishing with water and hoping for the best unless I’m going somewhere fancy.

Honestly, those little mirrors are like the Swiss Army knife of dental kits—hair, spinach check, or even a last-minute eyebrow inspection. I get it though, mini kits sound practical, but if you’re not reaching for them, they just become bag clutter. Swishing with water is better than nothing, but if you ever get bored, try those little interproximal brushes. They’re like toothpicks but fancier and actually pretty satisfying to use after lunch. I keep a few in my car because my bag is basically a black hole...

This is so true—I bought one of those little kits and it’s just floating around in my backpack somewhere. The interproximal brushes are new to me though. I get nervous about stuff getting stuck in my braces, so maybe I’ll give those a try. Swishing water helps a bit, but I always worry it’s not enough.

I totally get that feeling—food getting stuck in braces is the worst. I used to just swish water too, but honestly, it never felt like enough for me either. Interproximal brushes seemed a bit intimidating at first (tiny wire things poking around my teeth? no thanks), but after a couple tries, they became my go-to. They’re actually pretty gentle if you don’t force them, and I find them way less annoying than floss threaders.

Have you tried those little pre-threaded flossers made for braces? They’re not perfect, but they’re easier than regular floss. I keep a couple in my wallet instead of a whole kit—less clutter that way. Sometimes I just use my finger to check for stuck food if I’m out and can’t brush... not glamorous but it works in a pinch.

Ever get those days where it feels like no matter what you do, there’s still something hiding in there? Drives me nuts.

Ugh, yes, it’s like no matter how careful I am, there’s always that one stubborn piece of lettuce or whatever hiding somewhere. I actually got to the point where I started carrying those little dental picks in my bag, just in case. Do you ever feel like you’ve become way more aware of what you eat because of braces? I swear, I avoid popcorn now like it’s cursed...
