Has anyone noticed if changing the order affects gum sensitivity at all?

Been flossing first for years, mostly because I'm lazy and wanna get the annoying part outta the way. Tried brushing first once and weirdly, my gums felt a bit more sensitive afterward...could just be me though.

Switching the order can definitely feel different at first. Brushing before flossing sometimes means you're pushing plaque or debris into already sensitive areas, which might explain that extra tenderness you noticed. Usually, flossing first helps clear out those tight spaces, making brushing gentler on your gums afterward. Have you tried using a softer bristle toothbrush when switching up the routine? Might help ease that sensitivity you're experiencing...

I've actually tried both ways, and honestly, flossing first does seem to make brushing gentler overall. But I wouldn't say brushing first necessarily pushes debris deeper—it's more like it just doesn't clear out the tight spots as effectively. A softer toothbrush definitely helps though, especially if your gums are sensitive. Also, mouthwash after flossing and brushing feels way fresher to me...but maybe that's just psychological, haha. Either way, dental routines are weirdly personal—whatever works best for you is probably fine.

Totally agree dental routines are weirdly personal. I used to brush first, floss second, and mouthwash last, but after getting braces, I had to rethink everything. Flossing first definitely helps clear out those tricky spots around brackets and wires, and brushing afterward feels smoother somehow. Mouthwash at the end is like the cherry on top—probably psychological, yeah, but hey, whatever makes me feel like I've conquered plaque for the day...I'll take it.

Yeah, flossing first was a game-changer for me too. I used to be paranoid about missing spots around my braces—like, I'd literally spend ages checking in the mirror afterward. Doing it first calms my anxiety a bit...though I'm still convinced I missed something half the time.
