"Did you find certain foods took longer to get comfortable with, or was it mostly just sandwiches and softer things at first?"

I totally understand your concern. When I got my bridge a couple years back, crunchy foods were definitely tricky at first—especially apples, carrots, and nuts. Chips weren't too bad after the initial week or two, but biting directly into harder things like apples took me a bit longer to feel confident about. Honestly, I found slicing apples into smaller pieces made a huge difference early on. Also, chewing slowly and deliberately helped me adjust quicker than I expected.

It wasn't really painful—just felt odd and unfamiliar for a while. Sandwiches and pasta were my go-to comfort foods initially, but after about a month or so, I hardly noticed the bridge anymore. Your daughter might feel frustrated at first (totally normal!), but remind her it's temporary. She'll be back to enjoying all her favorites before she knows it... just maybe with a little extra caution at first.
