I totally get the urge to just stick with what works, especially when you’ve got those “standing room only” teeth. But I have to say, water flossers actually replaced string floss for me, not just as an add-on. I was super skeptical at first—seemed like a gimmick—but after a few weeks, my gums were less inflamed and I wasn’t fighting with shredded bits of floss anymore. Yeah, they’re not cheap or travel-friendly, but for tight contacts, it’s been a game changer. Maybe worth another look if the guilt over plastic is really getting to you?

I hear you on the skepticism—I was convinced my dentist just wanted to sell me another gadget. But after my first cleaning where they didn’t have to chisel away at my gums, I kinda became a convert. Still get nervous every checkup, but at least my gums don’t bleed like before. The water flosser is bulky though...almost left it behind on a trip because it barely fit in my bag.

Totally get what you mean about the size—mine basically takes up half my bathroom shelf, let alone trying to squeeze it in a suitcase. But honestly, the difference in how my gums feel is worth the hassle. I used to get those little gum bleeds every time I flossed with regular string, but now it’s rare. If only someone would make a travel-sized version that doesn’t dribble everywhere...

The struggle with water flosser logistics is real... I can’t count the number of times I’ve debated if it’s worth lugging mine around. But hey, fewer gum bleeds? That’s a win, even if it means sacrificing a bit of suitcase space. Honestly, I’ve seen some patients try those tiny portable ones, but let’s just say “dribble” is an understatement. Still, if your gums are happier, that’s what counts—sometimes convenience has to take a backseat to healthy smiles.

I totally get the suitcase dilemma. I once tried squeezing my water flosser into a carry-on for a weekend trip—ended up sacrificing my favorite sweater for it. But honestly, my gums have never been happier. Haven’t figured out the “dribble” thing with the travel ones either… maybe I’m just uncoordinated? Still, I keep going back because regular string floss just doesn’t cut it for me anymore.
