I totally relate to the weirdness of charcoal floss—those black specks made me double-check my teeth in every mirror for days. I’ve tried a few of the “eco” options too, but the fraying drives me nuts. There’s nothing worse than thinking you’re cleaning and then finding little bits stuck between your teeth later. At the end of the day, I keep going back to classic waxed floss too. It’s not ideal for the planet, but my gums are way happier. Maybe one day there’ll be a solid green option that actually works... but I haven’t found it yet either.

Charcoal floss was such a trip for me too—looked like I’d been chewing on pencil shavings. I tried one of those silk “eco” flosses and it basically unraveled halfway through, leaving me picking string out of my teeth. I keep hoping someone figures out a green option that doesn’t make flossing feel like arts and crafts... but until then, waxed it is.

Ugh, same here. I wanted to love the silk stuff but it just turned into this fuzzy mess. I was picking out little threads for the rest of the night—defeats the whole “clean” feeling, right? I even tried one of those “corn fiber” flosses because the packaging looked cute, but it snapped like three times before I even finished my bottom row. At this point, I’m convinced the only thing “eco” about them is how quickly they end up in the trash...

Honestly, waxed floss is the only thing that actually survives my teeth. I do feel a little guilty about the plastic, but at least it works. If someone ever invents a planet-friendly floss that doesn’t fall apart, I’ll be first in line. Until then, guess I’ll just keep recycling the box and pretending that counts for something.

I hear you on the silk and corn floss—my teeth just shred those to bits. I’ve stuck with regular waxed floss for years, mostly because it actually gets the job done and doesn’t leave half of itself behind. I do wonder if there’s a trick to making the eco ones work better, or maybe it just depends on how tight your teeth are? Has anyone found a brand that holds up, or is it all just trial and error at this point?

I’ve had the same problem with the eco flosses—felt like I was just pulling apart a tiny rope between my teeth. My teeth are pretty close together, so maybe that’s part of it? I tried one of those “biodegradable” brands and it basically disintegrated halfway through my mouth. Honestly, I keep coming back to the classic waxed stuff too. If there’s a trick to making the natural ones work, I haven’t found it yet… unless patience counts as a trick.
