Mashed potatoes were a lifesaver for me too, but after a while I needed something different. Did you find any other savory foods that worked well without causing extra discomfort? I'm still figuring this out...

Scrambled eggs worked pretty well for my kiddo when mashed potatoes got old. They're soft enough to swallow easily, and you can add a little cheese or herbs for flavor without making it too spicy or irritating. Also, soups like cream of broccoli or butternut squash were gentle and filling. Have you tried blending soups or stews yet? It sounds odd, but blending them smooth really helped us get through the roughest days...

This is spot on. When I had oral surgery last year, blended soups were my lifesaver. I found lentil soup particularly good—filling, nutritious, and easy to blend without losing flavor. Also, cooled-down oatmeal with a bit of honey worked wonders for me on days when I couldn't handle anything savory...just gotta keep it simple and smooth.

Totally agree about the oatmeal—my kiddo practically lived on that stuff after his braces went on. Another surprise winner was mashed sweet potatoes with a bit of cinnamon...sounds weird, but hey, desperate times call for tasty measures, right?

Mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon actually sounds pretty tasty, not weird at all...we did something similar when my daughter had her wisdom teeth out. She wasn't into oatmeal much, but smoothies became our lifesaver. I remember blending everything from bananas and yogurt to peanut butter and spinach—sounds questionable, I know, but she loved it. It's amazing how creative you get when chewing isn't an option, right? Hang in there; before you know it, your kid will be back to regular foods again.
