Weirdly enough, ice packs can help more than you think after dental implants

I remember thinking ice packs would be the magic fix, but I had that puffy “chipmunk” look for days too. My skin got kind of tingly after a while—definitely had to wrap the ice in a towel. Elevating my head at night made a bigger difference than I expected, honestly. The sinus pressure is no joke… mine felt like a dull throb for almost a week. I never really got into the ice cream thing either—just ended up with cold oatmeal and mashed bananas. Funny how the basics ended up helping more than any trick I read about online.

- Had the same chipmunk cheeks after my implants—ice packs helped a bit, but honestly, the swelling stuck around longer than I hoped.
- Agree on wrapping the ice—direct contact made my skin ache after a while.
- Elevating my head at night was a game changer for me too. Less pressure, easier sleep.
- Never understood the ice cream thing either. I lived on overcooked pasta and applesauce... not glamorous but it worked.
- Sinus pressure was rough. Ibuprofen helped more than any fancy tip I read online.

Yeah, I feel you on the chipmunk cheeks—mine looked wild for like a week. Totally agree about wrapping the ice, direct contact just made me miserable. For food, mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs were my go-to... ice cream never did much for me either. Elevating my head helped with the pressure, but honestly, nothing beat just giving it time. Ibuprofen’s a lifesaver, but I had to be careful not to overdo it with my stomach.

Man, the chipmunk look is real—felt like I was storing snacks for winter. Funny you mention the ice packs, because I swear by those gel ones you can flex around your jaw, but yeah, direct contact is brutal. I tried the frozen peas trick too, but honestly, it just made me hungry for actual food.

Mashed potatoes were my MVP too, but I gotta admit, I was all about the Greek yogurt for protein. Ice cream was just... meh, kinda made my mouth feel weird after a while. Elevating my head at night made a huge difference with swelling for me, though I kept waking up paranoid I’d drool all over my pillow.

Ibuprofen’s great, but yeah, I learned the hard way not to take it on an empty stomach. Ended up with a gnarly stomach ache on top of everything else. It’s wild how much patience you need—there’s no shortcut, just gotta ride it out. Hang in there, it gets less annoying after the first week or so.

Totally relate to the chipmunk cheeks—never realized how much your face can swell until you’re living it. Those flexible gel packs are clutch, but yeah, I learned the hard way you gotta put a thin towel in between or it’s just pain city. I’m with you on ice cream being overrated after dental work... felt weird and left this odd film in my mouth. Greek yogurt was my go-to too, and honestly, anything that didn’t require chewing felt like a win. The patience thing is real—felt like time slowed down for those first few days, but it does get better before you know it. Hang in there!
