I’ve totally had that weird minty aftertaste too. It’s like the scraper holds onto it for dear life... I started rinsing mine with hot water and a drop of dish soap after each use, then letting it air dry, which seems to help. Boiling feels a bit intense, but I get the paranoia—my brain goes straight to “what if I’m just spreading bacteria around?” every time. Switched to a metal one last month because the plastic ones just got funky way too fast. Metal’s easier to keep clean, and you can still boil it if you’re feeling extra germ-conscious.

- Been using a plastic scraper for a few months and yeah, it gets that weird smell even after washing.
- Switched to metal last week—definitely easier to clean, but I still wonder if I’m just moving germs around.
- Tried soaking it in hydrogen peroxide once… probably overkill, but it made me feel better.
- Not sure about boiling—feels like I’d end up burning myself more than sanitizing anything.
- Anyone else notice the mint flavor sticks around forever? Kind of gross but also oddly persistent...

I’ve wondered about the mint thing too—like, does it ever fully go away or is my tongue scraper just permanently “minted” now? When you switched to metal, did it feel smoother on your tongue, or kinda harsh? I’m still debating making the switch myself.

That minty residue is stubborn, right? I’ve noticed with metal scrapers, they tend to rinse cleaner than plastic, but the first few uses did feel a bit weird—almost too smooth, if that makes sense. Did you ever try soaking yours in vinegar or boiling water? I’ve heard some folks swear by that for getting rid of lingering flavors.

I tried the vinegar soak after my scraper started smelling like a weird combo of mint and…metal shop? It did help, but then I worried about it tasting like salad dressing. The boiling water trick made me nervous—felt like I was prepping for a science fair, not brushing my teeth. Anyone else get that super-slick feeling with new metal ones? I kinda miss the grip from my old plastic one, but cleaning was a nightmare.
