The day my tongue cleaner became a secret weapon

Metallic taste is real - no idea why some folks barely notice it and others can’t stand it. Personally, I gave up on the metal scrapers after a week. It felt like licking a battery every morning, which is not the wake-up call I was hoping for. Switched to silicone and honestly, it’s less weird. Have you tried the copper ones? Some people swear by them but I couldn’t tell if it was any better, just made my tongue look like I’d eaten pennies...

That battery taste is the worst. I actually stuck with a stainless steel scraper for a while, thinking I'd get used to it, but nope - every morning was like a science experiment in my mouth. When I switched to copper, I thought it might be different, but I totally get what you mean about the pennies. Silicone’s been way gentler for me too, and honestly, I don’t miss the metallic aftertaste at all. Funny how something so small can make such a difference in your routine.

I totally relate to that weird battery taste - honestly, it freaked me out at first and made me second-guess if I was doing something wrong. I tried the copper one too and, yeah, it was like having spare change in my mouth. Switching to silicone was a total game-changer for me. It’s wild how something so simple can actually make mornings less stressful. If you’re still feeling weird about it, you’re definitely not alone. Little things like this can really mess with your head, but it does get easier with time.

- That metallic tang from copper is no joke - felt like I’d licked a 9-volt.
- Switched to stainless steel myself, which helped a bit, but honestly, silicone sounds even better for avoiding that weird aftertaste.
- Pro tip: if you’re stuck with metal, rinsing it before and after helps reduce the “pocket change” vibe.
- Funny how a tiny change in your morning routine can throw you off... or make things smoother. Mornings are complicated enough without surprise flavors, right?

Silicone’s interesting, but I’ve actually found copper works better for keeping my tongue feeling clean. That aftertaste is annoying, sure, but it fades fast. Anyone else notice silicone sometimes doesn’t scrape as well? Wondering if the trade-off’s worth it.
