Finally overcame my fear of dentists—anyone else managed this?

Totally get what you're saying about feeling like a car at the mechanic... had that exact experience myself. Do you think it helps if the dentist explains every step they're doing, or does that just ramp up your anxiety even more? Personally, I'm torn—sometimes knowing what's coming calms me down, other times it just makes me overthink everything. Curious how others feel about that.

Haha, totally relate to this! Last time I went in, my dentist started narrating every single move like a sports commentator—"Now I'm applying the numbing gel... now you'll feel a slight pinch..."—and honestly, it felt like I was starring in some weird dental documentary. At first, I appreciated the heads-up, but after a while, I was just mentally tallying up each step and thinking, "Great, how much is this gonna cost me now?" 😂

For me, it's less about anxiety and more about budget panic. Like, please don't tell me you're using the "special" tool or the "advanced" procedure unless it's covered by insurance! Sometimes ignorance really is bliss... at least until the bill arrives.
