I get why people like tablets, but does anyone else feel like they don’t really get rid of that “film” feeling? I tried the warm water thing too, but then I started wondering if it’s actually cleaning anything or just rinsing off the surface. Isn’t there a risk of stuff building up over time if you skip the cleaners for too long? I’m still not sold on vinegar either—my dentures felt weirdly rough after.

I totally get what you mean about that “film” feeling. I’ve tried the tablets a few times because they’re cheaper if you buy the store brand, but honestly, my dentures never feel totally clean after. Like, there’s always this weird slippery layer left, and it kind of bugs me. I even tried scrubbing them with a soft brush after soaking, but then I started worrying I’d scratch them up or something.

Warm water alone just makes me nervous. It feels like I’m just swishing stuff around and not actually getting rid of anything... which is probably just my anxiety talking, but still. And vinegar—ugh, same here. Mine felt almost chalky? Plus the smell stuck around for hours and it made me wonder if it was actually safe.

I guess I’m still looking for something that feels both affordable and actually works. I keep thinking if I skip a day or two with the proper cleaner, stuff will start building up and then it’ll be even harder to get rid of. Just wish there was a magic fix that didn’t cost so much or leave things feeling weird.

I hear you on the film—some of those cheaper tablets can leave dentures feeling almost slick, and it’s not just in your head. But I’ve actually seen a lot of folks skip the brushing after soaking, and that’s where buildup sneaks in. I know you’re worried about scratching, but a soft brush with gentle pressure (think: like you’re brushing a peach) really is safe for most dentures. Honestly, I’ve seen more issues from folks skipping that step than from over-brushing. Vinegar’s a tough one though... it can be harsh and the smell just lingers. I wish there was a magic fix too, but sometimes it’s about finding the least annoying routine that works for you.

That’s spot on about the brushing—skipping it after soaking is where I used to run into trouble. I’d just drop my dentures in the fizzing stuff overnight, and they’d look clean, but then that weird film would show up after a couple days. It took me a while to realize the tablets soften up the gunk, but you still need to go in with a soft brush to really finish the job. I was nervous about scratching too, but honestly, using a soft baby toothbrush and barely any pressure has worked fine for me. No scratches yet.

Vinegar...yeah, I tried that once and my dentures smelled like a salad for days. Not my favorite hack. I’ve found that if I alternate between tablets and a mild soap-and-water brush every other day, things stay pretty fresh without too much hassle. It’s not perfect, but it beats wrestling with buildup or weird smells. Just takes a bit of trial and error to figure out what feels right.

Totally relate to the “salad smell” from vinegar—tried that once, and I swear my dentures had a Caesar vibe for a week. I’m with you on the brushing after soaking. Those fizzing tablets are like a spa day for dentures, but if you skip the brush, it’s like not rinsing off after a mud mask. I’ve found a soft kid’s toothbrush works best, too. Tried using just soap and water for a while, but the buildup came back faster than my dentist’s bill. Tablets plus gentle brushing seems to be the sweet spot...at least until someone invents self-cleaning dentures.
