That clove paste is wild, right? I remember thinking it smelled like Christmas but felt like magic. Honestly, nothing over-the-counter really helped me either—just had to tough it out until the dentist packed it. The waiting game is brutal, but you’re definitely not alone.

That’s been my experience too. The OTC stuff barely took the edge off, if at all. The dentist’s clove paste (I think it’s called eugenol?) definitely worked better, but I always wondered if anyone found any home remedies that actually provided relief. Did anyone try warm salt water rinses or anything like that between appointments? I remember reading mixed things about those, but never felt much difference myself.

I tried the salt water rinses too—honestly, they didn’t do much for me. Maybe a little soothing at first, but the pain always came back fast. The eugenol dressing from the dentist was the only thing that gave real relief. I did read about people crushing clove and using it directly, but I was too worried about irritating the socket more. The techie in me wishes there was some kind of targeted pain relief gadget for this... but nothing beats the dentist’s fix so far.

Same here, honestly. I tried clove oil at home once and it just made my gums burn—definitely not soothing like I hoped. I’m always a little nervous about DIY stuff around open wounds, so I stuck with what the dentist gave me. Wish there was a magic gadget too, but until then, I’m sticking to the pro’s fix. The pain with dry socket is just... next level, right?

Definitely agree—dry socket pain is a whole different beast. I also tried clove oil out of desperation, but it just irritated the area and didn’t help much. The eugenol dressing at the dentist’s office was the only thing that actually numbed it for me. I was surprised how fast it worked compared to over-the-counter stuff. I’m usually all for home remedies, but with dry socket, I learned my lesson.
