Same here, traditional floss was rough on my gums too. Have you tried those soft woven flosses? They're gentler and don't shred easily. Bit pricier though, but I stock up when they're on sale... worth it imo.
"Have you tried those soft woven flosses? They're gentler and don't shred easily."
I've used those woven flosses before, and while they're definitely softer, I found they didn't clean as effectively between tightly spaced teeth. Maybe it's just me, but did anyone else notice this issue...?
I've actually had a similar experience with those woven flosses. They're definitely gentler, and I get why people like them, but my teeth are pretty close together too, and I felt like they weren't getting in there enough. I ended up switching to a waxed floss that's still soft but has a bit more firmness to itβmade a huge difference for me. Also, if your gums are acting weird lately, it might not just be the floss type. When I first started flossing regularly, my gums got a little sensitive and even bled sometimes... freaked me out at first, but my dentist said it's pretty common when you're adjusting to new flossing habits. Maybe give it some time or try alternating between woven and regular floss until your gums settle down? Just a thought!
I've noticed woven flosses feel gentler too, but yeahβfelt like they didn't clean thoroughly enough between my tighter teeth. Switching to a thin, waxed floss helped me as well. Curious though, has anyone considered that toothpaste sensitivity might also affect gum health...?
Interesting thought about toothpaste sensitivity... my kid had some gum irritation issues, and our dentist actually suggested switching to a milder, SLS-free toothpaste. Seemed to help. Wonder if others have noticed similar connections between toothpaste ingredients and gum health?
