Did switching back to regular floss help with the sensitivity pretty quickly, or did it take a while? My kid's gums have been acting up lately, and I've been wondering if those floss picks we've been using are part of the issue... They're so convenient for bedtime routines, but now I'm second-guessing myself. Good to hear your gums improved—makes me hopeful maybe ours will too if we switch.

Switching back to regular floss definitely helped me, but it wasn't overnight. Took maybe a week or two before I noticed a real difference. Honestly, I think those floss picks were just too rough on my gums—super convenient, yeah, but they seemed to irritate more than help. Once I went back to the old-school floss, things calmed down pretty steadily. Might be worth giving it a shot with your kid and seeing how it goes...fingers crossed it helps you guys too.

Regular floss can definitely be gentler, but I've seen plenty of cases where floss picks aren't necessarily the issue—it's more about technique and pressure. Picks can tempt people (especially kids) to push too hard or snap the floss down roughly, causing irritation. If your kid really prefers the picks, maybe try guiding them on a gentler approach first? Sometimes just easing up on the pressure makes all the difference...but yeah, everyone's gums react differently, so experimenting a bit is key.

I've definitely noticed this too, especially when I first started using floss picks. My gums would get pretty irritated because I was pressing way too hard without even realizing it. Once I figured out how to ease up and go slower, things got a lot better.

One thing I've wondered though—is the floss thickness or material different between picks and regular floss? Maybe certain gums react differently depending on that? Curious if anyone else has noticed sensitivity related to the type of floss itself rather than just technique.

Yeah, I've noticed floss picks usually have thicker, waxier floss compared to regular string floss. Some patients mentioned irritation with certain brands—maybe the coating or material varies? Could be worth experimenting a bit to see what your gums prefer... everyone's a little different.
