Saltwater rinses have saved me more times than I can count. I remember once when my gums were so sensitive, even brushing gently felt like torture. Tried saltwater out of desperation (and because it cost basically nothing), and after a few days, things calmed down noticeably. Haven't tried the hyaluronic acid gel yet—sounds promising, but I'm always hesitant to spend extra unless absolutely necessary. Glad it worked for you though...gum pain is no joke.

"gum pain is no joke."

Totally agree—been there myself recently. Saltwater rinses helped me a ton too, but I also tried the gel out of sheer anxiety (typical me). Honestly, it was soothing, but not sure I'd buy again unless desperate...

Same here, saltwater was a lifesaver when my kiddo had gum issues after braces. We tried the gel too, but honestly, it wore off pretty quick. Ice packs wrapped in a towel seemed to help more...at least temporarily. Hang in there, it'll pass soon enough.

Totally agree about the saltwater rinse—it really helps reduce inflammation and gently cleans the gums. The gels are okay, but they mostly numb the surface briefly without addressing underlying irritation. Also, try avoiding acidic or spicy foods for a bit...makes a noticeable difference.

Glad to see someone else mentioning the spicy food thing—I thought I was imagining it! My daughter had the same issue, and cutting back on acidic foods really seemed to help. Have you noticed if certain toothpastes make it worse? We switched to a gentle, fluoride-free one, and it made a noticeable difference for her.

Also, has anyone tried chamomile tea rinses? Our dentist suggested it as a soothing alternative once in a while, and honestly, it seemed to calm things down a bit. Might be worth a shot if you’re looking for something gentle on sensitive gums. Hang in there, these things usually improve quicker than you'd think.
