Keeping your electric toothbrush in shape—what do you actually do?

Has anyone tried using a toothbrush cover, or does that just make things worse with humidity? I always wonder if those little plastic caps are actually helping or just creating a mini sauna for bacteria. I do the quick wipe too, but sometimes I forget... and yep, sticky handle city.

Honestly, I’ve had the same question. Tried using one of those covers for a while and it just made my brush head stay damp way longer. Didn’t love that. Now I just leave it out to air dry—seems like less hassle, and at least it’s not trapped in moisture. Anyone else notice the charging base gets grimy fast? That’s the part I can’t stand cleaning...

Those plastic caps always seemed a bit pointless to me—like, I get the idea, but if the brush head stays soggy, isn’t that just making things worse? I ditched mine ages ago and just let the brush air out. As for the charging base, yeah, mine gets this weird gunk buildup too. I’ve started putting a little folded napkin under it—cheap fix, and at least it saves me from scrubbing as often.

I’ve always worried about germs, especially with kids using the brush.

“if the brush head stays soggy, isn’t that just making things worse?”
That’s exactly my concern. Does leaving it out really keep it cleaner? I’m never sure what’s safer for little ones.

I have the same debate with myself every morning. I mean, I want to keep it “airing out,” but then it just sits there looking all sad and damp. My kid once licked the handle (don’t ask), so now I’m convinced the whole thing’s a germ magnet. I started standing it up in a cup by an open window—feels like a compromise? Not sure if it’s cleaner, but at least it feels like I’m doing something.
