Okay, so I've had this electric toothbrush for like a year now, and I'm noticing it's starting to look a bit grimy around the handle and especially the base where it charges. You know how water and toothpaste residue builds up over time? Yeah, it's kinda grossing me out. I tried just rinsing it under hot water but that didn't really do much.
Does anyone have any good tips or tricks for keeping their electric toothbrush clean and not nasty? Like, do you soak it in something or use a special cleaner? I'm worried about damaging the electronics, so I don't wanna just dunk it in bleach or anything lol. Also, how often do you guys actually replace the brush heads—I feel like maybe I'm waiting too long between replacements.
Any advice would be awesome, cause um...brushing my teeth with something that's starting to look sketchy feels kinda counterproductive, haha.
Yeah, totally get what you mean—mine gets pretty gross too after a while. Have you tried wiping it down with a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol? That's worked pretty well for me without messing up the electronics. Also, I swap out my brush heads every three months or so...I know they're kinda pricey, but I usually stock up when they're on sale or grab generic ones online. Feels cleaner and saves some cash.
I've tried the rubbing alcohol trick too, and it does help a lot. But have you ever popped off the brush head and looked inside the handle? Mine had some nasty buildup in there...grossed me out big time. Now I make sure to rinse it thoroughly after each use and let it air dry upright. Also, totally agree about generic brush heads—got a bulk pack online last year, saved me a bunch, and honestly can't tell the difference from the branded ones. Have you noticed any difference in durability between generic and name-brand?
