Feeling stuck between another root canal or just pulling the tooth?

I get what you mean about not wanting to shave down healthy teeth for a bridge. That’s actually what stopped me from going that route, even though my dentist said it was the “standard.” I ended up getting a flexible partial for just one molar, and yeah, it’s not as sleek as an implant, but it’s way less expensive and honestly, I got used to it pretty fast. The bulkiness wasn’t as bad as I expected. If budget’s a big factor, sometimes those “old school” options are worth a second look.

Totally agree with this. I was super hesitant about a partial at first, but honestly, it’s way less drama than I expected. Not the fanciest, but my wallet is grateful and I can still eat pizza. Priorities, right?

Honestly, pizza is my main concern too. I’ve never tried a partial, but I keep wondering if it feels weird at first? Like, does it move around when you’re chewing, or do you just get used to it?

That’s exactly what I was worried about, too. My aunt has had a partial for years and she said the first week was kind of awkward—like your mouth is trying to figure out what the heck is going on. She mentioned it felt bulky at first and sometimes she’d catch herself biting down differently, but after a bit, it just became part of her normal routine. Apparently, the fit matters a lot. If it’s made well and sits snugly, you shouldn’t have any major shifting when you chew (pizza included).

Honestly, I’d probably rather deal with a week of weirdness than another root canal. The last one I had left my wallet crying for weeks. It’s kind of comforting knowing other people are still able to enjoy pizza with a partial—makes me think maybe it’s not as big a deal as I thought. Priorities...

Funny how eating pizza becomes the barometer for dental decisions, right? I totally get it though—if you can bite into a slice without worrying about your teeth flying across the table, that’s a win in my book.

I went the partial route after losing a molar last year. The first few days were honestly pretty weird. There was this constant sense of “something doesn’t belong here,” and I caught myself talking funny. My dentist warned me about the adjustment period, but it still felt off at first. Chewing did feel awkward—like my bite was out of sync or something. But after a week or two, my mouth just kind of adapted. Now, unless I’m really thinking about it, I barely notice the thing.

Fit is a huge deal, though. Mine was snug from day one, but I’ve heard stories from people who had to go back for adjustments because theirs would wiggle or pinch when they ate. If you ever do get one and it feels loose or uncomfortable after a few days, don’t just tough it out—get it checked. That made all the difference for me.

Honestly, as much as root canals are supposed to save your tooth, the cost and recovery just weren’t worth it in my case (and yeah, my bank account still hasn’t forgiven me). The partial isn’t perfect—it’s not like having your real tooth back—but for everyday stuff like eating and talking, it’s way less hassle than I expected.

The only thing that still throws me off is remembering to take it out before bed. The first time I forgot, I woke up in a panic thinking I’d swallowed it. Didn’t happen (thankfully), but now I keep a little note by my toothbrush as a reminder.

If you’re weighing another root canal versus pulling and getting a partial… honestly, both have their pros and cons. For me, the partial was less drama overall. And yes—pizza is still very much on the menu.
