Totally relate to this. Had a crown put in a couple years back, and for months afterward I was hyper-aware of every little sensation. I swear I could feel things that weren't even there... like phantom tooth pains or something. Ended up going back twice just to have the dentist reassure me everything was fine. Felt a bit silly, but honestly, better safe than sorry, right? Eventually, I just got used to it and stopped noticing altogether. It's funny how our brains can play tricks on us after something major like dental work. Give it some time—soon enough you'll probably forget you even had anything done. Hang in there, you're definitely not alone in this.

I had a similar experience after getting veneers on my front teeth. For weeks afterward, I was convinced something felt "off" whenever I bit into anything remotely crunchy. I kept thinking they were loose or shifting slightly, even though logically I knew they were bonded securely. Like you, I went back to the dentist—twice actually—to have them checked out. Both times, he patiently explained that everything was perfectly fine and that my gums and teeth just needed time to adjust.

Turns out, our mouths are super sensitive to even tiny changes in shape or texture. Your tongue and lips notice every little difference, and your brain can interpret these sensations as discomfort or even pain. Eventually, after about two months, I stopped noticing altogether. Now I barely remember they're there unless someone compliments my smile.

It's totally normal to feel hyper-aware after dental work, especially cosmetic procedures that change how your teeth look or feel. Just give yourself some time to adapt... your brain will catch up eventually.

Did your dentist recommend a specific follow-up schedule or did you just go back whenever it felt weird? Usually, after cosmetic procedures like veneers, dentists schedule at least one follow-up to check the fit and bite alignment. But honestly, everyone's mouth is different—some people adjust quickly, others need more reassurance. I remember feeling paranoid after my crown placement too...took me about a month to stop obsessing over every little sensation. Did your dentist give you any tips to help speed up the adjustment?

My dentist scheduled one follow-up about two weeks after my veneers to check the bite and make minor adjustments. Honestly, I thought it was overkill at first, but turns out I needed it. My bite felt slightly off, nothing major, just enough to drive me nuts when chewing. He did some minor filing and polishing, and it made a huge difference. He also suggested chewing slowly and evenly on both sides to help my mouth adjust faster—sounds simple, but it actually helped a lot. Took me about three weeks total to stop noticing every little thing. Guess everyone's adjustment period varies, but having that scheduled follow-up definitely eased my anxiety.

I had a similar experience when I got my veneers done. My dentist scheduled two follow-ups—one at about 10 days and another around a month later. At first, I thought it was a bit much, but after the initial adjustment, I realized my bite still felt slightly uneven on one side. During the second visit, he made some subtle adjustments, just a bit of filing and polishing here and there, nothing drastic. Honestly, those small tweaks made all the difference...afterwards, chewing felt natural again. Seems like everyone's mouth adjusts differently, so the extra check-ups can be pretty helpful.
