HOW OFTEN DO YOU GO BACK AFTER TREATMENT?

Reading this makes me feel a little better about being so paranoid, lol. I just finished my first treatment recently, and honestly, I was tempted to skip follow-ups because everything seemed fine. But then my anxiety kicked in and I remembered how my cousin ignored her dentist's advice after a root canalβ€”she figured, "hey, it feels okay, why bother?" Well, fast forward a few months and she ended up back in the chair with an infection and way more pain than before. Not fun.

So yeah, even though going back frequently can feel like overkill (and trust me, I dread every single visit), I'd rather sit through a couple of extra check-ups than deal with something worse down the line. Guess it's just peace of mind for me...

Yeah, totally get where you're coming from. I used to wonder if all those extra check-ups were really necessary tooβ€”like, am I just being overly cautious or is it actually helpful? But then my dentist explained how some issues can develop silently without symptoms for a while. Made me rethink things. Did your dentist say how long you should keep going back regularly after treatment, or does it depend on the procedure? I'm always curious about that.

Usually, it depends on the type of treatment you had and how well you're healing afterward. For example, after something like a root canal, dentists often suggest a follow-up at around 6 months, then annually if everything looks good. But for gum treatments, they might want to see you every 3-4 months at first, just to be safe. It's really case-by-case, so checking directly with your dentist is best.

I had veneers done last year and they wanted me back in about two weeks just to check everything was settling nicely. After that, it's been yearly visits. Honestly, I kinda miss them... they're always so complimentary about my teeth, haha.

Yearly check-ups after veneers are pretty standard, and it's great you're keeping up with them. Honestly though, if you miss the compliments (and who wouldn't?), you could always schedule an extra cleaning or quick check-in between annual visits. Regular cleanings every six months are beneficial anywayβ€”they help maintain gum health and keep your veneers looking their absolute best. Plus, you'll get that confidence boost from the dental team's praise... win-win situation, right?
