I get why splitting it up works for a lot of people, but I’m actually leaning the other way after my last retreatment. I did the whole thing in one go, and honestly, I think it was less stressful for me. The idea of coming back for round two just dragged out the anxiety. Like, I’d finally get over the nerves from the first appointment, then have to psych myself up all over again a week later. Not fun.
Pain-wise, it wasn’t really worse doing it all at once. The numbing lasted just as long, and yeah, my jaw was sore after, but at least it was done. I could focus on healing instead of worrying about what was coming next. Plus, scheduling is always a hassle with work—getting it over with in one visit meant fewer hours missed.
I know some folks need that break in between (especially if you had a rough first experience), but for me, dragging it out just made me dwell on it more. Maybe it depends how anxious you get before appointments? Or if your dentist is good at explaining what’s happening—mine walked me through every step so there weren’t any surprises.
And about eating popcorn or whatever before—seriously, who hasn’t done that? Dental stuff always seems to happen right after you eat something you “shouldn’t.” I wouldn’t stress about that at all.
Anyway, just wanted to say single visit isn’t always more overwhelming. For some of us, getting it over with is actually less stressful... even if you’re wiped out after.
