"I actually called ahead and asked specifically about their approach to anxious kids and how they handle explaining procedures."

This is a smart approach—I did something similar, but my questions were more budget-focused. I called several offices beforehand to ask about their billing transparency, payment plans, and how they handle insurance claims. It definitely helped me narrow down options quickly, especially since some practices were vague or hesitant to discuss costs upfront. A quick phone call can save a lot of time and hassle later on...

Totally agree, calling ahead is key. Did you also ask about how long appointments usually run? I found some places rush through visits, which can really stress anxious kids out... Longer appointments made a huge difference for us.

Good point about longer appointments, though I found it wasn't just the length but also how the dentist handled the time. Ours took breaks to explain each step, which really helped with nerves. Did you find specific communication styles made a difference?

Totally relate to this—communication style made a huge difference for us too. Our dentist was patient, kept asking if we needed breaks, and explained things without overwhelming details. Honestly, having someone who checked in regularly and didn't rush through made ME calmer, lol... probably more than my kid. Sounds like you found someone great who gets it.

Totally get that calmer parent thing, haha... When I got braces as an adult, my orthodontist was super chill and explained stuff clearly without making me feel dumb. Honestly, good communication makes all the difference—especially when you're stuck in that chair for ages.
