"Makes me wonder how many other common ingredients we overlook could be causing issues without us realizing it."

That's a really insightful point—I had a similar realization myself. After switching away from toothpaste with artificial sweeteners like saccharin, I noticed my mouth felt less dry and irritated. It wasn't as dramatic as your SLS experience, but definitely noticeable over time. Seems like these subtle irritants can fly under the radar for years... makes you rethink what's actually necessary in dental products.

Interesting take, but honestly, I think sometimes we overthink these ingredients a bit. I tried going fluoride-free for a while and ended up with two cavities at my next checkup—lesson learned, lol. Sure, some additives might cause minor irritation, but fluoride's benefits seem pretty solid to me. Maybe it's more about finding the right balance rather than ditching stuff altogether? Just my two cents...

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying about balance. I went fluoride-free once because a friend recommended it, and while I didn't get cavities (luckily!), my teeth just never felt as clean or smooth. Eventually switched back and honestly noticed the difference right away. I mean, sure, maybe some ingredients aren't perfect, but fluoride seems pretty legit from my own experience... guess it's about finding what works best for your own teeth?

I've been wondering about fluoride myself lately... my dentist swears by it, but I keep seeing mixed opinions online. Did anyone else notice increased sensitivity when they tried fluoride-free toothpaste? I'm tempted but a bit nervous to switch.

I switched to fluoride-free toothpaste a while back out of curiosity, and honestly, I did notice my teeth felt a bit more sensitive at first—especially with cold drinks. It wasn't terrible, but noticeable enough to make me wonder if I'd made a mistake, haha. After a couple weeks though, it seemed to settle down. Maybe my teeth just needed time to adjust? Everyone's different though, so if you're nervous, maybe alternate between fluoride and fluoride-free at first to ease into it...just a thought!
