I swear, wax is like the duct tape of the braces world—sometimes it fixes everything, sometimes it just makes a mess. Drying the bracket does help, but I tried using a cotton swab and somehow ended up with fuzz stuck in my mouth, so... not my brightest moment. Has anyone actually found anything edible that helps? Like, I heard someone say marshmallows can soothe sore spots but I’m skeptical.

I’ve actually heard the marshmallow thing too, but honestly, it didn’t do much for me except make my teeth feel gross. I get the logic—soft and squishy, so maybe it cushions sore spots? But in reality, it just got stuck everywhere.

If you’re looking for something edible that actually helps, cold stuff works better in my experience. Sucking on ice chips or even eating a popsicle numbs things a bit and keeps your mouth busy without too much chewing. Yogurt’s another go-to for me—super soothing and no sharp edges to poke at your gums.

Wax is hit or miss. I usually blot the bracket dry with a piece of tissue (not cotton) before sticking the wax on, otherwise it just slides off. Honestly, nothing beats time for getting used to the brackets, but cold snacks definitely make the rough days easier to handle.

Yeah, marshmallows were a bust for me too—just made my mouth feel like I’d eaten a glue stick. The ice chip thing is legit though, especially when you’re desperate. I also swear by those little frozen fruit bars. Not just soothing, but at least they taste better than wax... which, let’s be honest, is basically edible silly putty.

Frozen fruit bars are a solid choice—way better than just chewing on plain ice, honestly. Did you find any flavors that didn’t sting your mouth? I remember citrus was a no-go for me, but mango was perfect. It’s wild how much texture matters with braces, right?

Totally get what you mean. Texture was a game changer for me—anything too icy or sharp just made my mouth ache more. I actually tried a coconut pineapple bar once thinking it’d be gentle, but the little coconut bits got stuck everywhere and drove me nuts. Mango ended up being my go-to too. It’s kinda surprising how even “healthy” snacks can backfire with braces.

And yeah, citrus was brutal for me as well. Even a tiny bit of lemon in anything would sting way more than I expected. It’s weird how your mouth just reacts differently when it’s already sore.

Hang in there—it does get better. Honestly, finding those little comforts (like the right frozen fruit bar) made a huge difference for me when everything else felt rough.
