The wax thing drove me nuts at first—no matter how carefully I dried everything, it just wouldn’t stay put once I started talking or drinking water. I actually found that using a little bit less wax (like, just enough to cover the sharp spot) worked better than globbing on a big chunk. And about the acidity, weirdly enough, tomato sauce didn’t bother me as much as pineapple did... everyone’s mouth seems to react differently. I kinda wish there was a universal trick for all this, but yeah, trial and error seems to be the only way.

I totally get what you mean about the wax—mine always seemed to disappear after like two sips of water. I actually started using a tiny bit of orthodontic silicone instead, and for me it stuck better than the regular wax. Also, I had the opposite with acidic foods… pineapple was fine but spaghetti sauce made everything sting. Guess our mouths are just picky in their own ways.

Silicone, huh? Never tried that—was always stuck with the wax that vanished instantly. Did you find it left any weird taste or residue? For me, cold drinks seemed to help more than anything topical. Pineapple never bothered me either, but tomato sauce was brutal... wonder if it's just the acidity or something else in it.

Silicone was a total game-changer for me—didn’t taste like much, just felt a bit rubbery at first. Wax always disappeared on me too, especially if I tried to eat anything warmer than room temp. Tomato sauce though... yeah, instant regret. I’m convinced it’s the acidity, but who knows, maybe it’s a secret braces torture ingredient. Cold drinks were my go-to, but I’d take a popsicle over wax any day. Hang in there, it does get easier (sort of).

Haha, tomato sauce is the real villain nobody warns you about. I swear, the first time I tried to eat pizza after getting braces, I thought my mouth was melting. I never really got into the silicone, but I totally get the wax struggle—mine would just vanish mid-meal like some weird magic trick. Popsicles were my savior too, though sometimes I’d just hold ice water in my mouth and hope for the best. It’s wild how creative you have to get just to survive lunch with braces...
